USNH Yokosuka offers Emergency Care services.

Emergency care services treat life-threatening medical issues, such as threats to your life, limbs, sight, or safety. We value your time; therefore, when arriving at the USNH Yokosuka emergency department, patients will be immediately greeted and registered by a highly trained corpsman and undergo a quick medical assessment by the triage nurse.

Patients deemed to be at serious risk for life-threatening ailments will be immediately brought back to a bed. For others, we do our best to minimize wait times as resources allow. Please note that as an emergency department, we operate on a triage system, which means patients are seen in order of the potential gravity of their condition, not based on order of arrival. These criteria are founded on nationally recognized standards and are designed to ensure that patients most at risk for serious illness are seen and treated first. Regardless, we have processes in place to ensure that all patients are seen and treated in a timely manner.

Non-life-threatening health issues that don’t require immediate attention (i.e., sprains, colds, flu, and other common illnesses) are best treated by your primary care manager (PCM). For active-duty service members attached to a ship, your PCM is your shipboard medical team.
