Available Services

The Branch Health Clinic provides family practice health care and dental care for routine clinical services. Although there are no full-time specialists billeted to Sasebo, certain specialties from USNH Yokosuka do provide services on a quarterly basis. Your Medical Home Port team can give you more information. The Hario Village Housing Annex Wellness Center offers routine appointments for physicals and check-ups as well as immunizations and limited pharmacy options most weeks on Mon, Tue, Thur and Fri. There is no acute or urgent care provided in Hario.

Routine Health Care

Appointments are utilized for all routine health care needs. Please call 252-8872 for routine appointments. Some examples of routine health care include:

  • Physical Exams
  • Optometry
  • Well Baby Exams
  • Coughs, Colds, and Low Fevers
  • Sinus Pain
  • Ear aches
  • Non-allergic Insect Bites
  • Routine Procedures

Urgent Care

Emergency Care: Clinic personnel respond to medical emergencies on base, but it is not an emergency room. The clinic relies on Japanese hospitals for most emergency care and will transport patients to them immediately when needed. For urgent health care needs, a provider and nurse are on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Please call the clinic at 252-2551 and provide your symptoms to the hospital corpsman. The Nurse of the Day will return your call to determine the severity of your needs. The nurse will advise you of the course of action to ensure proper treatment. This may include coming to the clinic to see a provider, presenting the next working day for an appointment or calling for emergency transport to a Japanese hospital. All patients have a right to request to be seen by a provider for urgent issues.

Some examples of urgent care needs are

  • Broken limbs
  • Minor Cuts or Burns
  • Sustained Fever 104 or Higher (100.4 for Newborns)
  • Persistent Rash
  • Localized Allergic Reactions
  • Persistent Infections

Emergency Care

The clinic provides emergency response and transportation for the main base and Hario Village housing Annex. Japanese ambulances respond to all off base emergencies. Emergency care is obtained through the Japanese hospital system. If you have any of the following symptoms, call for emergency transport.

  • Chest Pain
  • Severe Abdominal Pain
  • Difficulty Breathing/Shortness of Breath
  • Deep Cuts or Bleeding That Will Not Stop
  • Severe Burns
  • Sudden Blurred Vision
  • Numbness in the Face, Arms, or Legs
  • Sudden Severe Headache
  • Coughing up or Vomiting Blood

Emergency Care

Clinic personnel respond to medical emergencies on base, but it is not an emergency room. The clinic relies on local Japanese facilities or the Naval Hospitial for most emergency care and will transport patients to them immediately when needed.

  • Call 911 or go immediately to an ER.
  • Enrolled in a TRICARE Prime plan?
  • Contact your primary care manager within 24 hours or the next business day after you receive emergency care.
